The Coating Process
Consultation
When you book your consultation, share the vision for your flooring project with us. Our team will visit your property to assess your current concrete floor directly. Our pricing takes into account both the square footage and the specific condition of your concrete. We’ll measure your space and closely inspect for any cracks or pits that need attention.
During our visit, we’ll present you with a selection of color samples, allowing you to choose the perfect shade and style that aligns with your preferences. Additionally, we conduct thorough moisture level checks and discuss various options tailored to your needs before providing you with a detailed quote. Once you’re ready to proceed, simply set up your installation date.
Preparation
Before we can get started, all we need you to do is clear your concrete floor of any possessions, vehicles, or other objects that are currently taking up space. There is no need to sweep or hose off floor. Once your concrete is cleared off, our team gets to work on prep.
Grind
We use a diamond-bit Lavina grinder to create a coarse and porous surface as well as to remove any weak or deteriorated concrete. Our grinders feature three grinding wheels that work in unison to open the pores of your concrete. We will also use hand grinders to prepare detailed areas and vertical surfaces.
Each of the grinders is used with a high-powered vacuum to contain dust created by the grinding. This ensures the area stays clean.
Repair and Restoration
As part of the coating process, we repair cracks and pits in the damaged concrete, applying our two-component low-viscosity polyurea rapid fix. This material can be applied in cracks and pitted areas to build them up until they’re even with the concrete grade. Once hardened, we re-grind those isolated areas to smooth out the floor and scratch the material to ensure proper adhesion.
Apply Coating
Next, it’s time for the coating! We apply a polyurea base that acts as a primer for your floor. Then, we distribute color flakes by hand. Finally, we add the polyaspartic top coat – this is the protective layer that keeps your concrete protected and free from water, chemicals, and spills. An aggregate is added during this step to ensure slip resistant floors.
